Penang was great! It is a lovely Valentine's gift from my dear boyfriend who knows I have a fondness for this place. Penang is my mum's hometown and I spend my childhood holidays growing up in this tiny unpretentious town with lotsa good food and a doting aunt.
Char koay teow, koay teow thng and the pillow like gluntinous rice are my favourite.
Last time my dad used to drive us 12 hours from SIngapore to Penang but it is really a pukey ride. Luckily now, we can afford SQ. :)
Gary has booked a 4 day 3 night stay at G hotel, one of the most stylish address in town so it is called. And yipee it is beside my favourite shopping centre " Gurney Shopping Plaza" where I can zip to.
I must say it is one of the best hotels I have stayed at. The room is really spacious and stylish with my favourite 4 poster bed and the mood right. But the service is only so so as they took more than 20 mins to attend to your request when I asked for a marker pen. And I was quite shocked when no one at the reception answered the phone.
But one of the rewards of the trip is that I actually found a lady skilled in Peranakan beading. Her works are really fine using the tiniest quality beads (even smaller than the beads I use for sequin sewing). I was so fascinated by her "heartworked" crafts and we seem to click immediately. And if everything goes well, you will see these exquisite beading soon in Fuchsia Lane's designs. Keep your eyes peeled. :)
I also visited the finest Peranakan mansion in Penang. And it was used for the shooting of the famous "Little Nonya" Be patient while I upload the photos shot with my boyfriend's pet camera.
